The rainy season in Changsha is in full gear so Julianne and I have been spending a lot more time in our apartment. There have been actual thunderstorms over the past 10 days though it always takes Julianne and I a couple seconds to figure out whether it actually IS a thunderstorm or if someone a couple kilometers away isn’t setting off ARTILLERY-SIZED FIREWORKS aka 500 POUND BOMBS!
Being ‘trapped’ inside the apartment wouldn’t be so bad if the Internet speed was better cause that’s one of our favorite ways to kill time. As it is we’ve been spending our free time inside reading, playing iTouch apps/games, and slothing the Net (as opposed to surfing) . . .
Oh, I should mention something about the bars over the windows–they’re pretty much standard issue ‘window dressing’ for apartments in China. If I had to put a number on it I’d say 95% (or more) of apartment windows in China have bars over them.
On days when it’s raining, grey, and gloomy the bars really reinforce the feeling of being ‘trapped’ inside–ugh.
Time to go do something fun and forget about the weather outside . . . and the bars.
