Nighttime in Martyr’s Park, Changsha – Whipping a humming spinning top (no idea what actual name is) IV, originally uploaded by Serenity in China.
Tonight Julianne and I went out for dinner with a couple friends from work. Afterwards one of the friends said she was in the mood for a walk so we went down to Martyr’s Park.
After visiting some small ponds we walked over to see . . . people with whips-on-a-stick whipping these small spinning tops that when accelerated to a certain spinning speed emit a cool and fairly loud humming vibration sound . . .
It was really hot and humid today and this . . . game/activity requires skill, technique, and some degree of physical power so the people doing it were sweating up a storm.
Check out my flickr page is you want to see a few more shots of this game/activity.
Also, if you know the proper name for this game/activity please post a comment.
