I’m fairly certain that this is a common sight all over China as I’ve seen other photographer expats shoots scenes like this on flickr and other blogs.
We’ve been warned not to eat the food at these sidewalk places by Chinese friends. Even without the warnings I wouldn’t eat at them due to news articles I’ve read published on Chinese news websites about how the cooking oil is RECYCLED over and over again . . . yeah, the COOKING oil is RECYCLED.
Anyways, the food, in spite of the health hazards, always smells and looks pretty good.
Maybe when I have a week with nothing to do I’ll eat some . . . and that way if I have to spend several days on the porcelain throne I won’t have to worry about missing work. I might even lose some weight, lol.
