Walking Street in Changsha, Hunan, China – Construction and Demolition I, originally uploaded by Serenity in China.
A few days ago Julianne and I went for dinner at a restaurant called “Juicy”–yes, I said Juicy, lol.
Anyways, when we walked into the restaurant we saw these huge windows at the far end through which we could see this large building being demolished by a wrecking construction vehicle. It was kind of fascinating to watch.
But after watching for a few minutes I was suddenly reminded of how the 9/11 first responders got all sorts of serious illnesses from the billowing clouds of building materials as the Twin Towers fell–and I could see that the three workers walking around the wreckage of this building didn’t have any type of respirators or masks on at all.
Later, outside, I wondered how many people walking past the construction site were aware of what they might be breathing in . . . needless to say we didn’t stay in the area long.
