A few days ago I went for a 3 hour walk with my camera . . .
I saw this woman washing vegetables outside what I think is a small restaurant shop. I feel like this picture really captures one of the fundamental differences between life in Canada and life in China.
I think a lot of the things I’ve seen and experienced in Asia have helped me catch glimpses into early-modern living conditions, and in some cases pre-modern living conditions. It’s one thing to see them in a movie, or read them in your history textbook in school, but when you have the smells, sights, tastes, and LIVED information rolling around in your brain it definitely puts your world view of reality and history in a totally different light.
